Frequently Asked Questions about competitive soccer teams:
Where do these teams play?
Tantasqua soccer teams will compete against other competitive teams from communities outside of Tantasqua School district. Examples: Worcester, Webster, Dudley, Douglas, Sutton, Leicester, Spencer, Quabbin, Grafton. How many games are played at these towns?
The soccer season is 2 ½ months long starting in September and April and teams play approximately 8 games. Half of these games will be at our home field and the rest will be at the opposing team’s home field.
What does it cost?
Playing on a competitive team does cost more than playing on a recreational team. Registration fees are $70 (U10 – U14) and $80 (U16 – U18), depending on the age group, per season. Each player is required to purchase their team uniform at a cost of $60 (includes shirt, shorts and socks).
Who can play on these teams? ANYONE; players will be grouped according to date of birth and ability (if known). We are limited by
number of players and available coaches. All funds are returned in full to those not placed on a team. The coach may need to hold tryouts if cuts need to be made. Travel teams are more competitive than Recreational teams.
How many nights are practices held?
As a member of a competitive team you should expect to be practicing with your team twice per week. Can I play other sports while a member of a competitive team? TRY Soccer has no rules prohibiting soccer players from playing other sports while being a member of a competitive soccer team. It is the parent’s responsibility to balance their child’s sports commitments.
